Emergency Response

24 hour emergency response

When your knees deep in water and you have no idea where to turn, think EnviroPro! The EnviroPro team has been responding to floods, including large and small water damages, for almost two decades. This experience has given us the ability to identify more effective approaches to handling all aspects of emergency responses. EnviroPro stands by its 1 Hour Response Time and is generally on the job in under an hour. We handle all categories of floods including fresh water floods, gray water floods, and even black water floods. To give you a better idea of the different types of floods that are possible, we have created a short, but informative description of each below.

Fresh (Clean) water flood [Category 1] - Leaks coming from water supply lines for a toilet, sink, or washing machine are all forms of fresh water. Overflowing tubs due to negligence is a common type of a category 1 flood.

Grey water flood [Category 2] - Leaks coming from an overflowing toilet containing urine or an overflowing washing machine containing dirty water from the laundry are considered to be category 2 floods. This water generally contains a significant degree of chemical, biological or physical contaminants and causes discomfort or sickness when exposed to.

Black water flood [Category 3] - This type of flood is grossly unsanitary and is the most extreme flood category you can have. This category includes water sources from sewage, seawater, rising water from rivers or streams, ground surface water or standing water.

Category 2 Water or Grey Water that is not promptly removed from the structure and or has remained stagnant for 48-72 hours may be re-classified as Category 3 Water. Toilet back flows that originates from beyond the toilet trap is considered black water contamination regardless of visible content or color.

Due to the different categories for floods, EnviroPro emergency response units deal with each type of flood accordingly. A common fresh water flood can be extracted and have dryout equipment set in place to dry out both the structure, including the walls and studs, and the contents within the structure, including carpets, padding, and furniture. EnviroPro technicians will also apply a disinfectant to any porous surfaces or contents such as carpets, padding, couches, drapes, etc. The next level flood, being a Grey water flood, would be handled much the same, but a different disinfectant including deodorizer would be used. A common deodorizer, and the choice for EnviroPro professionals, is Milgo SR ( MSDS Sheet ; Label ). If an EnviroPro technician feels that any materials such as a carpet or padding should be removed, he or she will discuss this with the home or building owner before doing so.

A category 3 flood is handled much differently a fresh or grey water flood. Once an EnviroPro technician classifies the flood as a category 3, it is there job to locate and remove all affected areas of the house or workplace. Affected carpets and padding must be removed after extraction. Tackstrips should also be removed if water damage is present. Any porous contents that are affected with black water are recommend to be disposed of. Any drywall testing positive for water damage needs to be removed in 2 ft. intervals. If the lower 1-5? of the drywall is wet, EnviroPro technicians will measure a lower 2 ft line across the wall and remove that section. Once affected areas are properly disposed of and the extraction has been completed, an EnviroPro technician will apply a deodorizer / disinfectant to the floor and remaining areas that were affected by the water.
